This SeaWiFS image is interesting because of the deep green, roughly circular feature just above the center of the image. The green stands out against the relatively arid surroundings. It turns out that this feature is Marsabit Mountain in Kenya.
Lake Victoria is visible in the lower left corner of the SeaWiFS image, the Indian Ocean at the lower right, and Lake Turkana left of top center. It is easy to see why Lake Turkana has come to be called the Jade Sea.
