Wildfire in Southernmost Vietnam

Massive smoke plumes can be seen billowing away from wildfires burning in the U Minh Ha forest, located in the southern portion of Vietnam. As of April 15, 2002, a day after this image was captured by MODIS, 6,200 acres had been burned, and firefighters were still battling the immense blazes. Forests in this area have been highly susceptible to wildfires this year due to the unusually long dry season the region has endured.
