Saharan dust off West Africa

Saharan dust is billowing out over western Africa and yellowing the skies over the Atlantic Ocean and the Cape Verde Islands (usually bottom left) in these true-color Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) images from January-March 2003. In some images, fires have been detected in West Africa and are marked with red dots.
