Reykjavík is the largest city and capital of Iceland with approximately 120 thousand people. It is located in the southwestern section of Iceland , just south of the Arctic Circle. The center of the Greater Reykjavík Area is the only metropolitan area in Iceland.
In this image, Reykjavík appears a silvery-brown and is surrounded by green and redish-brown fields. The black areas are water and the bright white patches are clouds.
This Landsat 7 image was acquired on August 17, 2002. It is a pan-sharpened natural-color image using ETM+ bands 3, 2, 1 and the panchromatic band. Reykjavík falls on Landsat WRS-2 Path 220 Row 15.
