Smoke over Hanford Nuclear Reservation
Provided by the SeaWiFS Project, NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center, and ORBIMAGE
Wildfire is sweeping the area near the Hanford Nuclear Reservation in Washington. You can just barely make out the gray cloud of smoke near the confluence of the Snake and Columbia rivers in this SeaWiFS image.
The sediment output of the Fraser River into the Strait of Georgia is more prominent in the foreground of this southeastward-looking image.
