SeaWiFS: Nile River and Saudi Dust Storm

The northern portion of the Nile River divides the desert in this SeaWiFS image collected last month. Kharthoum and the confluence of the White Nile and Blue Nile are at the very bottom of the image.

A dust storm can be seen obscuring the ground over northern Saudi Arabia. Wave patterns with wavelengths of a few kilometers can be seen in the dusty air along the Israeli and Lebanese coastlines.
