James Bay and smoke from fires in Alberta, Canada

Intruding between Ontario (left) and Quebec (right), James Bay extends southward from the larger Hudson Bay to the north. In this true-color MODIS image, the Bay is melting and is full of brown sediment washed in from numerous rivers. The island in the Bay is called Akimiski Island.
