Fires in Eastern Siberia, Russia

South of the East Siberia Sea (upper right), MODIS has detected several fires (indicated with red dots) burning in Eastern Siberia. In the path of the fires, there appear to be many large burn scars. Numerous lakes cause the speckled appearance of the land in the image's upper regions. The rivers of the regions are spreading brownish sediments into the East Siberia Sea.
