This true-color MODIS image shows the North and South Islands of New Zealand, southeast of Australia. New Zealand is separated from Australia by the Tasman Sea, and the country's East Coast faces the South Pacific Ocean. The Cook Strait separates the two islands. The bright blue perimeter could be phytoplankton or sediment.
