Namibia, Botswana, and South Africa

Fires are burning in the Okavango Delta in northwest Botswana (fire locations marked with red dots in low-resolution imagery, outlines in high-resolution imagery.) In the high-resolution imagery, purplish burn scars can be seen. Other fires are scattered in the southern part of the country. To the west, the rust-colored Kalahari Desert stands out brightly along the southeast border with Botswana and stretches into the Republic of South Africa. The orange sands of the Namib Desert are draped along Namibia9s southern coast. This image was made from data collected on March 29, 2002.
