Florida, Georgia, the Bahamas, and Cuba are prominent in this true-color MODIS image acquired March 14, 2002. Fires (red dots) are visible in Florida, Georgia, and Cuba. Also visible surrounding the islands of Cuba and the Bahamas are colonies of marine phytoplankton whose chlorophyll and other pigments reflect an intense blue-green color.
