Alaska

This image, taken March 13, 2002, shows a clear day over Central Alaska. The Yukon River is clearly visible, running diagonally from the top right portion of the image to the bottom left. High cirrus clouds partially obscure the Norton Sound and the Bering Sea. Cook Inlet and Prince William Sound are visible in the bottom right of the image - Cook Inlet appears brown from sediment, while Prince William Sound is clear. This true-color image was made from data acquired by the MODIS sensor aboard the Terra satellite.
