North West Basin and Shark Bay, Western Australia

This true-color MODIS image was acquired April 3, 2002. It depicts the North West Basin and Shark Bay in Western Australia. UNESCO has listed Shark Bay as a World Heritage Site for its natural beauty and its ecological and evolutionary significance. At the point of Shark Bay, on Dirk Hartog Island, is where the first explorers landed on the continent of Australia.
