A large number of fires, shown as red dots on the image, can be seen burning in this MODIS true-color image acquired April 8, 2002. Smoke from fires in the southeast corner of the image can be seen in the higher-resolutions, as can agricultural plots all over the region (rectangular shapes on the surface of the land).
