Dust storm in Taklimakan Desert, Western China

On April 14, 2002 MODIS captured this true-color image of a dust storm blowing over the sands of the Taklimakan Desert. Particularly arid conditions in this region of western Asia have contributed to a large number of dust storms this spring. Dust from such storms has been observed traveling as far east as the East Coast of North America in recent weeks
