This series of MODIS images from April 8-29, 2002, shows winter sea ice--and the beginnings of spring thaw.in Baffin Bay between Greenland (right) and EllesmereIsland, Canada (top island at left). Warmer waters from the Labrador Sea to the south begin to encroach into the Bay as spring progresses, eventually freeing the Bay of its winter ice.
