Madagascar

On April 23, 2002, clouds were heavily draped over the eastern half of the island of Madagascar, off the southeast coast of Africa in the Indian Ocean. The sharp dividing line in the clouds is probably due to the presence of more mountainous terrain in the east. The clouds may be formed by orographic lifting of air parcels as they move over the island.
