Hudson Bay and James Bay, Canada

The ice in Hudson Bay, Canada, is beginning its spring thaw, although most of the land was still blanketed in snow when this image was captured by MODIS on April 23, 2002. The advancing spring has a long way to go thaw Hudson Bay and it southern extension, James Bay. The large inland sea, formed when glacial retreat allowed seawater to fill in the vast depression caused by the glaciers
