Caspian Sea and Volga River Delta

The Caspian Sea touches many countries in Eastern Europe, as well as western Russia. The contact with so many human industrial and agricultural activities has left the Caspian Sea in real environmental crisis. In this MODIS image from April 24, 2002, the water quality problems of the Sea are evident. The Volga River empties in at the northern tip of the Sea.
