James Bay, Canada

This true-color MODIS image from April 27, 2002, shows the beginning of the spring thaw in James Bay, Canada. James Bay is the southern extension of the much larger Hudson Bay, and it separates the province of Ontario (left) from Quebec (right). At the southwestern tip of the Bay, the wetlands around the Moose River appear to be thawing some as well.
