Fires in Southeast Russia

Scores of wildfires are burning in southeastern Russia in the Amur River region and all the way south along the coast, and were detected by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on April 28, 2002. Much of the smoke appears to be hanging over China (left).
