Wake effects south of Madeira and Canary Islands

Off the northwest coast of Africa, Madeira (top center) and the Canary Islands (lower right) disturb air flow, creating swirling wake effects in the clouds. Solitary Madeira appears to create only a minor disturbance, but the string of islands making up the Canary Islands appears to be having a much larger impact.
