Fires and smoke in Southeast Australia and Tasmania

Smoke from fires (red dots) in southeast Australia (top) and Tasmania (bottom center) appears to be mingling in the air over the Bass Strait between them. The rim of dark vegetation that surrounds the eastern edge of the continent shows the water-trapping effect of the Great Dividing Range Mountains that follow Australia9s East Coast.
