Tibetan Plateau, China

The Tibetan Plateau is the highest plateau in the world. The region is rimmed to the south by the Himalaya Mountains, and is dotted with fresh and salty lakes. This image was acquired by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on May 26, 2002.
