Fires in Southeast Russia

Fires in southeast Russia continue to emit large amounts of smoke, especially along the Amur River valley (center). Fires span the whole image, from the west, along the border with China, and all the way east to Sakhalin Island. These images were acquired by MODIS on May 10 and 11, 2002.
