Scattered fires (red dots) were burning in the Pacific Northwest and were captured by MODIS in this true-color image from June 11, 2002. The image spans British Columbia, Canada (top left), Washington to the south, and Oregon farther south. The Coast Ranges are capped with snow that looks to have been painted on. In eastern Washington, the speckled green appearance is due to agriculture.
