Rodeo and Chediski Fires, Arizona

This Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) image from Monday, June 24, 2002, shows the Rodeo and Chediski Fires (red dots) in Arizona (bottom center) and the immense smoke plumes they are creating. The plumes are moving north and appear to be mingling with smoke from other fires in southwest Colorado. In the false-color images vegetation is bright green, and burned areas are reddish-brown. Active fire detections are bright red in both images.
