This image shows the McNalley (north) and Pines (south) Fires in California marked with red dots. Both of these fires were accidentally started by humans, and combined have cost more than $40 million to combat. This image was acquired on August 6, 2002, by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on the Terra satellite.
