Mouth of the Yangtse River, China

The sediment-laden waters of central China's Yangtze River are emptying into the East China Sea in this true-color Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) image from July 24, 2002. The river traces a zig-zag path back across the northern part of the image, and the city of Shanghai creates a large gray cluster of pixels south of the river mouth.
