Sea ice and snow cover continue their summer retreat from Foxe Basin, Canada. At the bottom of the image, only a few scattered remnants of winter sea ice remain in Hudson Bay, separated from Foxe Basin by a string of islands, including the largest, Southampton Island, the eastern edge of which can be seen at bottom left. At the top right of the image, bare soil has been exposed on Baffin Island. At left is the eastern part of the Nunavut Province of northeast Canada.
