Fires in Zambia and Democratic Republic of the Congo

This true-color Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) was captured on August 8, 2002, over south-central Africa. Numerous fires have been detected in Democratic Republic of Congo (top center) and Zambia (bottom center). Other countries visible are Zimbabwe (lower right) and Botswana (lower left). At upper left is Angola.
