Antarctic Peninsula

This true-color image from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on the Terra satellite shows the Antarctic Peninsula with the Larsen Ice Shelf tucked up against its eastern coast. Farther east is the Weddell Sea. This part of Antarctica is separated from the southern tip of South America by the Drake Passage.
