Scattered fires (red dots) were burning across Sudan (left) and Ethiopia (right) on the morning of November 14, 2002. By afternoon, the number had markedly increased. These images were captured by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on the Terra and Aqua satellites.
