Fires in Southcentral Brazil

Around the Xingu National Park, a remnant of Amazon rainforest dangling down from the intact forests to its north, numerous fires were detected by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on the Terra satellite on January 11, 2002. `
