A broad swath of snow lies across the central United States in these true-color Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) image from mid-January, 2003. On Jan. 14, The trail leads from Manitoba, Canada, at far upper left into North Dakota and South Dakota, eastward into Minnesota (top) and Iowa (bottom), farther east into Wisconsin (top) and Illinois (bottom), and down into Indiana at bottom right.On Jan. 17, other states have acquired snow as well.
