Fires in Arizona and New Mexico

Though less smoky than on previous days, the Aspen Fire was still growing on June 25, 2003. This Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) image from the Aqua satellite shows Arizona (left) and New Mexico (right) and multiple active fire locations marked in red. In Arizona, the Aspen Fire is the second cluster of red dots up from the bottom of the image. The fire is burning in the Coronado National Forest northeast of Tucson, AZ, and had grown to 25,000 acres as of June 25.
