According to reports from the National Interagency Fire Center, numerous previously unburned areas within the perimeter of the Fawn Peak Complex Fire were burning on July 30, 2003. This report is confirmed by the more compact nature of the active fire detections observed by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on the Terra satellite compared to the previous day’s image.
