The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) aboard NASA’s Terra satellite captured this true-color image of Typhoon Chaba on August 27, 2004, at 2:00 UTC. At the time this image was taken, Chaba was located approximately 833 km (518 miles) south-southeast of Sasebo, Japan and was moving towards the north-northwest at 7 km/hr (5 mph). Maximum sustained winds were near 194 km/hr (121 mph) with gusts to 241 km/hr (150 mph).
