The dust plumes that arose over Inner Mongolia on April 8, 2012, continued their eastward journey the following day. The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Terra satellite captured this natural-color image on April 9. By the time MODIS captured this image, the dust had coalesced into massive plumes spanning hundreds of kilometers over the Sea of Japan.
