Fires in Krasnoyarsk region, Russia

MODIS acquired this image of dozens of fires burning in the Krasnoyarsky region of south central Russia. To the far right of the image, the Angara River runs north and then east. MODIS has thermal detectors uniquely designed to detect thermal radiation as hot as 500K without saturating.
