Southern Mexico

This MODIS true-color image of Central America shows spring taking hold. All of the snow has melted off of the mountains, and the land is starting to turn green. Central and Southern Mexico are prominent in the image, but Guatemala and parts of Belize, El Salvador, and Honduras are visible as well. Mexico's largest city and capital is Mexico City, which can be seen in all resolutions of the image (middle left). Also visible are a number of fires (red dots) throughout Mexico and Guatemala.
