SeaWiFS had a good view of eastern North America north and south of the Great Lakes yesterday. At the northern end, phytoplankton, suspended sediments, and dissolved, colored, organic matter color James Bay. Farther south, about midway between James Bay and the U.S. border, the Trans-Canada Highway (11) cuts a long straight swath through its undeveloped surroundings. At the southern end of the image, numerous smoke plumes are visible in Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia, Tennessee, and North Carolina.
