Tropical Storm Linfa (05W) passed directly over the Philippines during the last week in May, bringing heavy rains and the potential for flooding in some areas. As of May 28, the storm had passed over to the eastern side of the Philippines and appeared to be veering northward toward Japan.
The above map represents the rain accumulations across the region, as measured by the NASA/NASDA Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission from May 24-28, 2003. Values range from less than 4 inches (100 mm, blue pixels) to more than 16 inches (400 mm, red pixels).
