Dust Plume over the Red Sea

More dust blew off the coast of Sudan over the Red Sea on June 13, 2007. The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) flying onboard NASA’s Aqua satellite took this picture the same day. In this image, the dust appears as an opaque tan blur over southeastern Sudan and the western fringe of the Red Sea. As in many other dust storms in this area, the dust moves in a clockwise direction, first toward the northeast, then toward the southeast.
