Dust Plume Over Iraq and Iran

A dust plume blew along the Iraq-Iran border on July 18, 2007. The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) flying on NASA’s Terra satellite took this picture the same day. The dust plume appears as a pale beige blur, just thick enough to make the underlying ground features appear faint. Although thickest along the Iraq-Iran border, the plume also extends well south into Iraq.
