Thunderstorms and other interesting clouds are captured in this astronaut photo over the Amazon Basin on October 6, 2009.


Astronaut photograph ISS020-E-47807 was acquired on October 6, 2009, with a Nikon D2Xs digital camera using an effective 48mm lens (28-70 mm zoom lens), and is provided by the ISS Crew Earth Observations experiment and Image Science & Analysis Laboratory, Johnson Space Center. The astronaut photograph was taken by the Expedition 20 crew. GOES image courtesy NASA GOES Project Science and NOAA Comprehensive Large Array-Data Stewardship System. The photograph in this article has been cropped and enhanced to improve contrast. Lens artifacts have been removed.
