Singapore is a city-state and island country founded in approximately 2 A.D. It is the fourth wealthiest country in the world in terms of gross domestic product and has a population of approximately 5 million. The population is made up of people of Chinese, Malay, Indian, Caucasian, and Asian descent. Singapore is located at the southern end of the Malay Peninsula and divided from Malaysia to the north by the Straights of Johor. In this image, Singapore is grey, vegetation is green, clouds are white (over the city), water is various shades of blue, and bare ground is tan. This Landsat 5 image was acquired on May 4, 2005. It is a true color image using TM bands 3, 2 and 1. Singapore falls on Landsat WRS-2 Path 125 Row 59.
