White Sea - Russia

On May 3, 2001, MODIS captured this image of Russia's White Sea (lower-left). Some sea ice remained in the northern waters, even with spring in full bloom. The White Sea is connected to the more northerly Barents Sea (top) by a long narrow strait known as the Gorlo.
