SeaWiFS: Heavy Haze over East Asia

This SeaWiFS image of eastern Asia from May 13, 2001 shows heavy haze over much of the area. Ice is still visible in the water of Sakhalin Island. Where the haze is not as thick to the east of Japan, the swirling patterns of phytoplankton blooms are visible.
