Fires in Angola and Democratic Republic of the Congo

This MODIS true-color image shows active fires as red dots superimposed on a surface reflectance image of the Angola and Congo regions of south central Africa. MODIS has thermal detector uniquely designed to detect fires as hot as 500K without saturating.
